Stay tight with everymotion, stunt & tumbling.

Squeezing your muscles in your motions makes you look cleaner and not so sloppy.

Locking out your knees and squeezing your butt muscles makes stunting easier for your bases.

In tumbling you have to
tighten your abs and your whole body to have good technique.

I agree with Sari - SMILE all the time!  Our coach is always reminding us that people would rather watch cheerleaders that are having fun than ones that look like they are made to be there.

flyers: when doing single legged stunts keep the hip that you are not standing on slightly higher than the other this will make sure you dont step out and fall. If that hip is down it will be very dificult for you to stand and stay up there.

If you are having trouble toeing or heeling keep your toes to the roof of your shoes. This way you are not toeing or heeling. This also helps when you start twisting and you tend to land a little forward.

Bases: Keep a very straight posture it looks pretty and makes it easier on your back and makes you use your leg muscles more making the stunt more powerful.

Laurarbyrne - those are some great tips!  I sounds like you are a very experienced flyer!  What does toeing and heeling mean?

Thanks!

Toeing is when you put all your weight to you toes and it make you lean forward.
Healing is the opposite.. when you lean back on your heals.

when flying you want to have a flat foot. just like when you're on the floor.

I greatly agree that cheerleaders should always wear a smile especially when they are performing. Since high school, I am already fan of a cheering squad and even up to now that I am already graduate in College. I really love to watch cheering squad performance in every game or competition but recently, when I read this news from this article Male cheerleader kissing another male leads to suspension, I was quite upset. The Alice, Texas school is generally not on the nation's radar. After a suspension, however, the high school is going through national scrutiny. A homosexual male cheerleader claims he was suspended for kissing another male. School officials have said they are examining the suspension. Is it righteous to suspend him?
